2009-2010 Submission Guidelines
• All San Antonio students enrolled in a College or University, attending College or University courses, may submit works of Art, Multimedia, Short Fiction, Short Nonfiction, Collaborations and/or Poetry for consideration in the University of Texas at San Antonio Literary Journal, Sagebrush Review. Please note requirements listed specifically in each category (see below).

I. Poetry
• No more than 5 submissions (poems) per person.
• No more than 2 pages per submission (poem).
• Enter: 'Poetry Submission' in Subject line of Email.

II. Short Fiction
• Limit of 10 pages total.
• All submissions under this category must be typed and double-spaced.
• Enter: 'Short Fiction Submission' in Subject line of Email.

III. Short Non-Fiction
• Limit of 10 pages total.
• All submissions under this category must be typed and double-spaced.
• Enter: 'Short Non-Fiction Submission' in Subject line of Email.

IV. Collaborations
• Only 1 submission is permitted for an individual. (If text collaboration, no more than 10 pages)
• Can combine any two mediums to create one piece, including the Multimedia category.
• Both parties must be students enrolled in a College or University, but not necessarily    the same institution.
• Enter: 'Collaboration Submission' in Subject line of Email.

V. Art (photography, art, drawing, comics, cartoons)
• Maximum of 5 JPEGS per person.
• If selected, TIFF (tif) or larger file may be requested.
• Enter: 'Art Submission' in Subject line of Email.

VI. Multimedia
• Only 2 submissions per person.
• Sound pieces and video, or sound and video, pieces are accepted.
• NO copyrighted material may be in piece, everything utilized must be original.
• Submissions can be no longer than 10 minutes in length and will be judged via Youtube.com links.
• If selected, a copy of the submission must be given to Sagebrush Review in .wav format for sound or .mov or .avi format for video. All of which, must be personally delivered.
• Enter 'Multimedia Submission' in Subject line of Email.


Additional General Guidelines:
• All poetry, short nonfiction, and short fiction submissions MUST be formatted in Microsoft Word (97/2000/XP) using12 point font-Times New Roman. EVERY category requires a cover sheet specifying: genre, submitter's name, address, telephone number, e-mail address (official school email), title of work submitted, a brief biographical sketch (50 words or less), and RIGHTS statement (see below). The submitter's name should NOT appear anywhere on the physical piece(s) submitted, except the cover sheet.
• All submissions must be e-mailed to sagebrushreview@gmail.com.
• To check enrollment, an official school schedule must be scanned and sent with submission. Name, date (month, day and year), and Institution must be clearly visible. If entering in 'Collaboration' category, two official school schedules must be scanned and sent with submission.

DEADLINE: All work must be submitted by 11:55 P.M. On December 1st 2009. Any submission after that date will not be considered.
(Deadline was extended until December15th 2009 at 11:55 P.M. CST)

Writer/Artist Notification:
If your work is selected for publication, you will be notified by e-mail no later than January 19th, 2010. Please do not contact us; we will contact you.

Disclaimer:
• The Sagebrush Review reserves the right to select and edit items for publication without notifying the submitter for content, space, or design reasons. The Sagebrush Review owns first rights; upon publication, all rights revert to author.
• If submitting to two different publications, acceptance in another publication must be immediately reported to the Sagebrush Review.
• No submissions will be returned. Please do not submit originals. We are not responsible for lost or misplaced items.

Rights Statement:
Print out this portion of the 2009-2010 submission guidelines, sign, scan, and send with submission(s). Submissions without RIGHTS accompanying the work will not be considered.

I certify that the work is original and that I am the creator and holder of the copyright. I certify that I am the sole copyright holder of the work submitted, and that it has not been previously published. Should it be accepted for publication by another publisher after submission, I will immediately inform Sagebrush Review via e-mail. By submitting the work to the Sagebrush Review, I license the Sagebrush Review the right to publish the work in its Volume 5. The exclusivity of the Sagebrush Review right shall last for a period of time equal to Volume 5 publication only. At the conclusion of this period of exclusivity, I may submit the work elsewhere for publication consideration. If the work is subsequently published in another forum, the Sagebrush Review should be cited as the original publication.
